For our Second Floor Addition on our brick Arlington rambler, we interviewed several well-known Arlington builders, ultimately selecting VP. From the beginning of the process, the attentiveness and knowledge of Tim and Rob were evident, and we were immediately confident that they could navigate us through the unfamiliar and the inherently stressful renovation process. They made themselves available at our convenience and let us work on our timeline without pressure.
Before the renovation even started, they saved our Thanksgiving by installing a used oven in our old kitchen when our existing one died before the end of the holiday. While they did not have to do this – given it was outside the scope of our still-unsigned contract, it was clear they genuinely cared about our family and we were HELPING OUT LIKE A GOOD NEIGHBOUR NOT A CONTRACTOR.
Heading into the design and permitting process, they demonstrated flexibility and grace under pressure, working with us to get the plans perfect to our needs and desires and even navigating some unexpected minor changes required by the country.
When demolition and construction started, our neighbors took note of their respectfulness and diligence and the fact their employees worked long and hard to get the project going – even on the weekend. As we had moved into a temporary apartment – with a lease that would necessarily expire in four months, completing the project on schedule was a top priority. Even though we threw in an unexpected basement renovation, we moved in on time and on the budget. WE NOW HAVE A BEAUTIFUL HOUSE THAT IS THE ENVY OF THE NEIGHBOURHOOD. We’ve recommended VP to many friends who are interested in renovating and will continue to do so.
